I don't know if it's true, but someone once told me that the way Alfred Hitchcock adapted books to film was by reading them once and then making the file based on whatever he happened to remember about the book.
As I've mentioned before, I have an archive of all the posts that used to live here at jasongullickson.com. I was planning to extract, transform and upload those posts to the current incarnation (the one you are reading now), but now I'm reconsidering this.
Instead, I'm leaning toward recovering these posts the Hitchcock way, by re-writing them based solely on what I can remember.
This might sound dumb, but I believe the results will be much better than simply extracting the dusty old texts. First off, I'm only likely to restore things that are worth revisiting. Secondly, I have a tendency to more strongly remember the good things, so you can expect anything I remember to rewrite will be the good stuff.
Maybe someday I'll more directly restore the historic posts, or perhaps bring the back online as some sort of archive, but for now I'm planning to leave them sleep (safely backed-up to multiple geographic locations of course).
