We got a couple of inches of snow last Sunday so I finally got a chance to test the winter features of the Chuck Taylor All Star Lugged 2.0 Counter Climate.

I bought these to replace my disintegrating Chuck Taylors and end-of-life Doc Martens and I can safely say they are doing the job. They will also be replacing my winter “muck boots” and as such some degree of waterproofness is needed and I can now say that these qualify in that arena as well.
Of course any one thing that replaces three will result in some compromises. One of the things I missed most about the muck boots is how fast the go on and off. I added some zip-up lacer things that help speed things up (and lend a nice Frankenstein aesthetic) but it’s still a little less convenient.
I was hesitant to spend the money on these but they have turned out to be worth it. They are pricey for shoes, but a little cheaper than the steel-toe Docs they are replacing, and I like going from three pairs of footwear to one so overall I think they’re worth the money if they hold-up well.
